la Méduse

21—22 MAY, 2022
GALERIE DA-END, PARIS, FRANCE

la Méduse is a performance by Synne Elve Enoksen as part of the exhibition Mέδουσα | Scyphozoa at Galerie Da-End, Paris.

Mέδουσα | Scyphozoa

Navigating between contemporary art and the chamber of wonders, the Da-End gallery (Paris) and Jonathan F. Kugel gallery (Brussels) both share a common sensitivity for all forms of singular, powerful and formidable beauty. Who better to embody their second collaboration (after a first edition in Brussels in September 2021) than the figure of the Medusa?

Hypnotizing, seductive, or terrifying, the Medusa - mythological character, underwater animal and even planetary nebula - fascinates as much as it repels. The exhibition Mέδουσα | Scyphozoa, which brings together nearly twenty artists from all mediums, selected by the two accomplice galleries, oscillates between these dissonances with the idea of transcending commonly accepted convictions on attraction-repulsion.

Alongside the different interpretations exhibited, Synne Elve Enoksen´s performance explores through movement the contradiction present in the figure of Medusa as described in Ovid's Metamorphosis.
