Epic Desire, Monumental Longing

14—17 NOV 2024, DANSENS HUS, OSLO, NORWAY
04 MARCH 2025, RAS, SANDNES, NORWAY

Epic Desire, Monumental Longing is a solo performance on a grand scale. It is a desire-driven desperation for greatness, an all-consuming longing, a body that unfolds endlessly.

The body becomes monumental. It is unrestrained, magnificent, crazy, and it unleashes everything: fantasy, drama, enchanting dreams, intense urges. The body overflows, sending out shockwaves with a megalomaniacal intensity, an otherworldly energy.

In close collaboration with the artistic team, Epic Desire, Monumental Longing aims to create a space where sound, visuals and the body together create an intense and saturated atmosphere of ever-expanding energy, frolicking in desire, mystery, pop, drama and epic maximalism.

- We inspire ourselves and we expire without running out of breath, we are everywhere!

Hélène Cixous

- Desire, I want to turn into you.

Inés Belli is a dancer and choreographer based in Oslo. She graduated from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and Goldsmiths University in London, and has since then worked as choregrapher and dancer both alone and in various constellations. She has produced two full-length performances, Postmodern Cool (2019) and Metasexy (2020), both of which premiered at Dansens Hus in Oslo. Belli's work has also been presented through Aerowaves and Dansenett Norge.

In her choreographic practice, Belli attempts to look critically at norms and structures in society. Through displacement and confusion of the spectator's gaze and the performer's practice, she creates aesthetic expressions and choreographic structures in the context of a broad bodily and theoretical reference base.
